Bibs stiffened?

Are bibs stiffened with anything? Its a little confusing looking at photos here, I am thinking they are not as a whole....

Most bibs I've seen are padded to make them hold their shape. Not sure what they're padded with. You can ask these folks, they make a fine bib and could answer your question:

The pauldrons used by the mepd sandtroopers and such are generally padded with upholstry foam of some sort. This type of foam is available in many different hardness. However these pauldrons are typically too small to wear as a bib(I know I've tried, I'm a pretty small guy and it still looked comically small on me). The custom bibs you can get made to your specifications here on the forums I believe have some sort of cotton fabric inside them. This is not stiff at all compared to the pauldrons the td's wear. The shape is held just based on how tight you have it strapped to yourself and how big your gut is.

Thanks guys, always curious as to how everything is made, not that I am out to reverse engineer the world or take things apart to satisfy curiosity if there is a risk that I cannot get it back together myself :)
