How do you transport your gear?

Post by Dahrken » Mon Feb 20, 2017 5:33 pm

Greetings all,
When I first started my kit build, I noticed everyone in my garrison had the big Husky rolling storage units, so I went ahead and bought one. As I got to the point that I could troop in my TI Reserve kit, I didn't need that big of a kit box, so I used an old suitcase. Now that I've added my hard armor & helmet, I am having to finally upsize and the bin I bought holds everything. The problem is that it will not easily fit into my small car like it did in my wife's SUV. I will most troops be going without her, so I'm having to go back to the drawing board. During my first troop this weekend, I was able to utilize a nice big rolling duffel bag for everything but the helmet. but had to carry the bucket loose. Has anyone found or are already utilizing a helmet bag that they could recommend? Or a different bag that might fit into my Mustang?

Thanks,
Dahrken

This post has information on how people carry their set up. Helm and all the other parts too. I don't have my kit just waiting on the helm and armor. But I wanted to just have the right information before I posted and pointed in the wrong direction. hope it helps :)

I use a Blue Hawk rolling tool bin from Lowes. I think it's a 28 gallon one. It fits everything including my helmet.

I use one of these;

About $20 from Target or Wal-Mart and fits in most cars, if not the trunk then the back seat.

Sadly, that is the case I bought that won't go in the mustang other than in the front passenger seat if nothing else is in the car.

I used to use a rubbermaid bin & loaded it so that my helmet was safely nestled in the middle.

I only have the soft armor so I haven't the same type of worries. I use a Husky stackable set up.
-big items in the bottom (boots, pauldron and flight suit)
- next bin has accessories, belt, amplifier, officer hat if I need to handle and gloves. I also keep a few "handler kit" items here.
-the top bin is part of my "handler kit" I cart around a few tools, zip ties, first aid and repair items.
I also picked up the expansion unit that allowed more items. I am diabetic and wear contacts so I have diabetic supplies and items for my contacts. I carry lighting options purchased at the dollar store for those troops that end up short on lighting.

as my wife is a royal guard and has a larger bin that has to sit on the back seat (I drive a focus sedan) mine had to be able to fit in the trunk. This particular unit comes apart and fits in the trunk nicely. Due to the shape of the helmet I currently carry it in a Costco insulated bag.

However I will admit that it works best without the hard armor or the jacket. As well if you have an approved reserve Tie pilot or bridge crew costume, everything travels with you so you can switch out at cons.
I have some nice land on Alderaan for sale... :gunner:
