Help With Helmet Specs

Post by Raven1 » Fri Feb 17, 2017 7:47 pm

I found this Helmet and wanted to ask the more experienced gunners if this is approvable. Thanks for your assistance.

It doesn't look bad but the price is a tad steep in my opinion.

That's the Andrew Ainsworth helmet, the one not permitted to be sold in the U.S. Some of our European gunners swear by it because of it's lineage (Ainsworth was one of the prop makers on ANH). Personally, I find the steep price tag to be excessive. I'd rather support one of our resident makers.

Whew, yeah that's a LOT for a Gunner helmet.

But to answer your approval question, you would need to add the cog detail & the two white buttons on top of the combox. The big issue is the screw in the middle of the combox. That is not approveable per the CRL.

I for example have this helmet, it's a beauty!
Like Brian wrote, cog and square buttons are missing. The screw is not big issue, it is easy to cover with white screw cap or round push button which
is required on there anyways. The helmet is perfectly approvable with that screw when covered.

CRL says: " Comlink does not have any VISIBLE screws or other means that attach it to the dome"

HI, I'm Abílio, aka 30591, from Portugal. I already have 3 helmets from diferent makers and now I have one of these (SDS). In my opinion, although the high price, is the best helmet for the gunners. When it arrives youll need make some modifies like attach sticker on head, some buttons, etc... But nothing impossible and easy. Is thee best for sure. The helmet is very strong and consistent structure, very beautifull shape and shinny as no comparation. It's the "dark mirror" as some friends here call it. Ill let you here the link for my youtube channel where i put the unboxing when it arrives at my house. If you have the oportunity for, youll no regret from get it.

LINK
Best Regards.

Bilo 30591

P.S.: If you want I can let here some photos of the my helmet to you see it !

I have the same Helmet and I was very happy with the quality. Yes the price is a little high but it is worth it. I made the necessay mods, and I worked out. I also, got one from a supplier in the USA. The helmet was ok. The price was cheaper, but I ended up needing to make more upgrades, and the first one was a new paint job t make it shine like the Shepperton´s.
