It's typically canvas or nylon like material that is attached into various military helmets. If they used a real world military helmet for this like they did with the Rebel troopers who had real M1 helmets mixed in there, it's likely the ear cups.

This is a tanker example, lot of pilot helmets have similar fabric attachments: http://www.breachbangclear.com/wp-conte ... Tanker.jpg

As been posted before, it's likely that the ground crew was a flight helmet, the earcups are attached via canvas like material in those, they are not plastic molded and the pics seem to confirm that the ears are attached to the flaps and not molded to helmet possibly.

Thanks for the additional info. Would the back part of a balaclava work for this? Modified, if necessary? I know pics were posted but I’m still not really seeing what is being described. It still looks just like the collar on the flightsuit to me.

In this case, the hood/liner is just a vestige reminder that the base was a flight crew helmet. The earcups are attached to the dome with plastic hardpoints.

A balaclava wouldn't have the right look as the fabric isn't heavy enough, especially for attaching the snaps. The figure shows the shape and details the best.

Now I see what you are referring to. I thought it was some sort of attachment to the collar of the suit. Will the buckle and strap be required as well or just a semblance of the hood is fine? I'm thinking a bottomweight twill would achieve the look necessary and hold the shape well.

The buckle and strap are recommended but being made optional at this time. The snaps under the earcups will be required.

Question, should we add this link to the sticky for quick and easy reference?

It might not hurt. But we'll be porting the "blueprint" version over to a more visual format and include the link there. The official CRL will also receive a link to the blueprint version, too, to fill in the details that the LMOs do not wish to include.
